Central Station

The Central Station is the ultimate studio-monitoring interface for the modern digital studio. The Central Station features three sets of stereo analog inputs to switch between input sources such as: DAW, mixer, CD/DAT/Tape player, or keyboards/samplers. Two stereo analog inputs feature TRS balanced and the third stereo input features RCA inputs with trim control for level matching of input signals. In addition, the Central Station will accommodate two digital inputs via S/PDIF or TOSLINK providing D/A conversion up to 24Bit/192kHz. The job of a microphone preamplifier is to boost microphone level signals to line level so that the signal can be converted from analog to digital. High Voltage - The XMAX preamplifier runs on power rails of 30V. Most off the shelf op amp based designs run on power rails of 10V to 18V. Higher voltage power rails deliver more headroom, deeper lows, smoother highs and an overall fuller sound.

Eureka

The Eureka is a professional recording channel strip containing a discrete class A transformer-coupled microphone preamplifier, compressor, and three-band parametric equalizer. The microphone preamplifier features variable input impedance so that the Eureka can be matched and "tuned" for all types of microphones and recording applications. The Class A transformer-coupled microphone preamplifier also features "SATURATE" which adjusts the drain current on the input FET amplifier to simulate of the effects of tape saturation and tube "warmth".

The Eureka's ultra fast compressor has both soft and hard knee compression as well as a separate make up gain stage and hi-pass side chain compression to deliver hard pumping to ultra transparent compression and everything in between. The FireStudio is a 26x26 24-bit/96k professional recording system combining eight XMAX Class A PreSonus microphone preamplifiers, up to sixteen channels of optical ADAT input / output, S/PDIF and MIDI input / output, along with the Control Console - a 36x36x18 zero latency mixer/router.  The FireStudio also includes the ProPak Complete, a bundle of over 2GB of award-winning recording and production software, virtual instruments, plug-ins, drum loops and samples to get you started making music immediately.

Superior Analog Circuitry - XMAX Class A Preamplifiers
The FireStudio starts with eight custom-designed high-voltage, discrete, XMAX Class A microphone preamplifiers. Many other companies offering recording interfaces add the cheapest possible microphone preamplifier as an afterthought to the interface. PreSonus knows that the preamplifier is a key component in the sonic quality of a recording. The job of a microphone preamplifier is to boost microphone level signals to line level so that the signal can be converted from analog to digital. This mic to line boost is generally a preamplification of over 400 times the voltage of the original mic level signal. This preamplification stage is one of the most important stages that the signal will go through before converted to digital, and is why a high performance preamplifier is important to achieving great results. A cheap "off the shelf op-amp" type mic preamp that is found in most interfaces translates into thin, noisy and harsh results.

All XMAX preamplifiers are built with the same three elements:

High Voltage - The XMAX preamplifier runs on power rails of 30V. Most off the shelf op amp based designs run on power rails of 10V to 18V. Higher voltage power rails deliver more headroom, deeper lows, smoother highs and an overall fuller sound.

Discrete - No op amps. Only transistors, resistors and capacitors. Op amps add noise, coloration and harshness to a signal. Discrete designs deliver ultra low noise and transparancy.

Class A - When a circuit is running in Class A mode the circuit is always in an "on" state operating at its optimal voltage requirements. Class A mode has zero crossover distortion and delivers purer, clearer and more musical sonics than class A/B designs which are found in most op-amp circuits.

The net result of the XMAX preamp design is is high headroom, low noise, wide dynamic range and wide frequency range, and most importantly, musicality and transparency - smooth highs, solid deep lows, and everything in between.

New Advanced Platform Technology - DICE II and JetPLL
The FireStudio is loaded with the new ultra powerful DICE II FireWire chipset delivering 26 channels of simultaneous inputs and outputs at professional-quality 24-bit. The strength of the DICE II chip lies with its ability to easilly handle high channel count at high bit-rate while minimizing latency and load on your computer.

The sycronization of the FireStudio is handled by patented JetPLL^TM jitter reduction technology. JetPLL^TM incorporates noise shaping to virtually remove all audio band jitter. JetPLL^TM ensures the highest converter performance possible, resulting in better stereo separation and clearer more transparent audio. JetPLL^TM delivers ultra-fast locking to any digital format, through a wide range of frequencies and is extremely robust, and tolerant of wide variations in clock frequencies. JetPLL^TM ensures near perfect clock performance when networking audio devices thus creating the most stable and robust synchronization to the computer and all devices synchronization with the FireStudio.

Ins and Outs
The FireStudio is loaded with I/O for an extremely flexible and expandable recording system. The FireStudio starts with eight Class A custom-designed PreSonus microphone preamplifiers. You can add additional preamplifiers or analog inputs via the dual optical light pipe ports on the rear panel. You add up to two DigiMax FS, for a total of twenty-four microphone preamplifiers all in only three rack spaces! Additionally word/clock I/O for ultra tight synchronization, MIDI I/O and SPDIF I/O are on the FireStudio for further expandability.

Control Console - Zero Latency DSP Mixing/Routing
The FIRESTUDIO also includes the Control Console - a 36x36x18 DSP mixer/router for flexible mixing and direct routing any input to any output including the headphone output, with zero latency. The Control Console software application lives between your FireStudio interface and your DAW software enabling the mixing and routing of input streams coming into your FireStudio interface and playback stream coming from your DAW software. The Control Console is capable of creating up to nine stereo mixes and then routing to the outputs of your FireStudio for headphone mixes and various aux sends. M80

The M80 is an Eight-Channel Microphone/Instrument Preamp featuring low noise, balanced input transformers, ultra low impedance mix bus and vintage warmth control. The M80 is designed with a low impedance stereo mix bus for assigning and panning any channel to the main stereo output connectors. It also has a high gain headphone output for monitoring the main bus. A special feature of the M80 is the IDSS control on each channel. The IDSS control adjusts the drain current on the input FET amplifier thus altering the even harmonic levels of the signal. A wide range of control is offered from 0% to 100%. This feature may be used to adjust the harmonics of the signal from absolutely pure (no harmonics) to simulation of the effects of tape saturation and tube "warmth". The back panel of the M80 is fully loaded with XLR balanced input/output connectors and TRS line inputs via Neutrik combo connectors. Each channel is equipped with separate send and return jacks for inserting dynamics processors (such as the Presonus ACP88). Mix output connectors are XLR for balanced signals as well as for line level signals such as digital audio card inputs. The M80 is housed in a double rack space, steel chassis with a high quality blue anodized front panel. The unit also has an high output headphone amplifier and utilizes an external power supply to create a noise free preamp environment (S/N >98dB!).

V-Fire

The V-Fire is a 24-bit/96k R-BUS to FireWire computer recording system for both Windows XP and Macintosh computer systems. The V-Fire allows the user to convert Roland’s R-BUS digital audio format to FireWire (IEEE 1394), thus providing a multi-channel computer interface for Roland products equipped with R-BUS output.

The V-Fire features two R-BUS ports and two FireWire ports allowing sixteen channels of digital audio to stream at up to 24-bit 96K sample rate. The V-Fire is also equipped with R-BUS 1, R-BUS 2 and master sync LED indicators.

AD 192

Digital Option Card for Eureka
The AD192 is a user installable 24bit, 192kHz digital output card for use with the Eureka Pro Recording Channel. The AD192 includes Word Clock I/O, both AES and SPDIF outputs, 24-bit word length and sample rates of 44.1k, 48k, 96k and 192k. In addition, both Professional and Consumer digital formats are supported for further flexibility and compatibility.
