NX - Not all man made materials are created equal, acoustically speaking…

The NX Series loudspeaker cabinets have undergone a constant evolution since the flagship model, the NX20, was introduced in early 2000. Along the way, improvements in the molding process have led to the use of tougher, lightweight, low resonance variable density composite materials, use of denser foam in select locations and redesigned part geometry for a much sturdier and a much stronger molded loudspeaker box. The NX Series cabinets now have a smoother, more rugged and more professional final finish. Select cabinets are now available in either the standard black finish for touring or club system PA applications, or in white paintable finish for fixed installations. All cabinets in the NX Series are molded for maximum versatility, and all boxes can be used as either a full range front of house enclosures, as floor monitors or as installation loudspeakers. Integrated flypoints, recessed handles, dent resistant all metal grilles and integrated stand mount adaptors are included on all NX Series cabinets ensuring maximum flexibility. Speakon and 1/4-inch connectors on the passive cabinets (XLR and TRS balanced connectors on the active loudspeakers) ensure simple and secure connectivity. All NX Series cabinets are UV and moisture resistant and can be used in outdoor applications. The trapezoid box is ideal for mounting in arrays, or for use as a monitor, with recessed input jack plate and an ideal wedge monitor angle that was taken into account in the initial design. Neither application was considered as an afterthought. Stand mount and flying hardware are also available. Capitalizing on the lightweight molded cabinet design and equipped with a proprietary neodymium woofer, Active versions of the NX series are also available in the line. Even when fully loaded with the unique processing crossover, CTL™ high frequency protection circuits and TWO amplifiers that drive the bi-amped system, the NX55P is a 550 watt powerhouse that still weighs in at an easily manageable 47 lbs, and the NX600 features a 600 watt 15” low frequency driver and still only weighs 44lbs, the lightest in its class by a long shot. The passive 2-Way NX88 weighs in at an ultra-low 17lbs, our most compact loudspeaker yet.

The NX88 made its debut as the smallest and most compact loudspeaker in the NX line last year. Small in stature only, the NX88 offers performance and features usually never seen in a loudspeaker this unobtrusive. Loaded with a single 8-inch driver and a 1-inch horn driver, the NX88 delivers a clean 125 watts with a 90Hz to 16000Hz frequency response. Proven Yorkville CTL™ horn protection ensures reliable operation. Two 1/4-inch input connectors are provided on a recessed jackplate, as well as an integrated pole-mount stand adaptor and integrated recessed handle are standard features. The enclosure itself has been molded for maximum versatility. The newly designed NX35 is the next evolution of the molded loudspeaker. Based on the popular NX20, the most successful molded cabinet Yorkville has ever made, the NX35 incorporates many new features and subtle improvements over the initial design. The new NX35 is slightly larger that the original NX20. The increased cabinet volume greatly increases low frequency response and makes for a better, more balanced overall cabinet tone. It features a new 80º x 50º horn, patterned after the custom ABS waveguide horn used in the popular élite loudspeaker line. As with all NX series enclosures, the NX35 is manufactured using tough, light weight low resonance variable density composite materials. In addition they are UV and moisture resistant. The new shape employed on the NX35 makes for an improved monitor angle, and makes it ideal for mounting in tight arrays, or in multiple cabinet clusters. It easily handles 350 watts with its Neodymium driver 12-inch woofer, and has a more durable, smoother finish due to an improved molding process, which completely eliminates all release marks as well as the screw flutes, which are used to mount the front baffle in place. The NX35 the ideal replacement for the NX20, and is the ideal cabinet to become the flagship of the NX Series. The NX35 enclosure itself has been molded for maximum versatility. The 300-watt NX300 is the most cost effective passive 15-inch and horn injection-molded loudspeaker available in the NX Series. Ideal for virtually any PA application, the unique trapezoidal shape employed on the NX300 allows the cabinet to be used as effectively as a monitor or front-of-house loudspeaker. The cabinet shape makes it ideal for mounting in tight arrays, or in multiple cabinet clusters. The rotatable 80º x 50º custom ABS waveguide horn used in the NX300 allows this loudspeaker to be flown either horizontally or vertically, or close to walls and ceilings making an ideal fill cabinet for installations. Integrated flypoints in the NX300 ensure this injection-molded loudspeaker can be easily adapted for installation without modification to the cabinet. Rugged bar handles and integrated standmount adaptor ensure maximum mobility and easy set-up in any live PA application.

The NX600 is the first 15-inch and horn molded loudspeaker from Yorkville Sound. This 600-watt passive box is using a new injection molded technology and features a first for composite loudspeakers, a rotatable 80º x 50º horn patterned after the custom ABS waveguide horn used in our popular élite loudspeaker line. The unique trapezoidal shape employed on the NX600 allows the cabinet to be used as a monitor or front-of-house loudspeaker and makes it ideal for mounting in tight arrays, or in multiple cabinet clusters. The NX600 easily handles 600 watts with its Neodymium 15-inch woofer and 1 ½-inch polyester high frequency driver.

The NX600 used the same proven PTC™ (Positive Temperature Coefficient) protection on the high frequency compression driver. PTC™ is an ingenious current sensing / self-resetting breaker that offers some serious advantages over current protection schemes used in many loudspeaker cabinets. This protection scheme, while always present in the signal path, remains inaudible until it becomes necessary for it to react. It kicks in at a point where it effectively reduces output to the horn and protects that diaphragm from damage due to excessive power input or signal distortion. Unlike a breaker it does not require a physical reset to allow signal back to the horn driver, and unlike a bulb or fuse, does not need to be replaced if the circuit is tripped, and the fuse is blown. Where PTC™ shines is in heavy feedback environments where most horn diaphragm damage occurs. In rare situations even where a microphone might be dropped in a monitor, the sustained ‘squeal’ can destroy diaphragms in seconds. PTC™ will significantly reduce output level to the horn to protect the diaphragm. When the situation has been rectified, and the feedback eliminated the horn will return to full operating level within half a second.

The new NX25P offers the best value in a 12-inch and horn active loudspeaker cabinet. The cabinet enclosure is the same proven design as the NX250 passive loudspeaker and uses the same rugged and reliable speaker components. The biamped 200-watt power module has a minimum of controls yet provides maximum versatility making the NX25P the ideal solution for many applications. A three band EQ, XLR balanced microphone input as will as an XLR / TRS 1/4-inch balanced combi-jack line input on the power module means the NX25P can be easily connected to any source and quickly EQ balanced for the room. An XLR balanced line output allows multiple NX25’s to be linked together for use in an array or for easy distribution around a large room when used as repeater cabinets. The horn amplifier uses a two-tier class A/B technology, allowing the horn to produce loud clean transients to keep up with the high output of the woofer. The woofer or low frequency amplifier uses a class-H two-tier amplifier technology that provides a lighter weight, more efficient amplifier with higher headroom and lower operating temperature, making it the ideal amplification solution for this active loudspeaker. The NX25P enclosure, like all cabinets in the NX loudspeaker line, has been molded for maximum versatility. The trapezoid box is ideal for mounting in arrays, or for use as a monitor cabinet with well-protected inputs and controls. The NX25P can easily be used in any orientation, and close to walls, floors and in close arrays with multiple cabinets. Particular care was taken designing the components to reduce extraneous heat production.

The new NX55P active speaker enclosure uses a combination of amplifier technologies to create the best combination of lightweight enclosure and high quality sound. Capitalizing on the already popular NX35’s molded cabinet technology, totally new switching power supply amplification and neodymium drivers, the 550 watt bi-amped NX55P weighs in at only 47 lbs (21.4kg) ... the lightest in its class by a long shot. Like all NX series enclosures,the NX55P is manufactured using tough, light weight low resonance variable density composite materials. In addition they are UV and moisture resistant. The NX55P enclosure itself has been molded for maximum versatility. The trapezoid box is ideal for mounting in arrays, or for use as a monitor. An improved wedge monitor angle has been incorporated into the new design. The horn amplifier uses a two-tier class H linear technology, allowing the horn to produce loud clean transients to keep up with the high output of the woofer. The two-tier amplifier technology is a lower weight, more efficient amplifier with higher headroom and lower operating temperature. It is a perfect solution for powering the top end. The NX55P has a built in mixer that allows the loudspeaker to be used directly with a tuned microphone and / or line sources such as mixer, CD player or laptop computer. The loop output allows additional powered cabinets to be driven from one cabinet''s mixer stage, or a series of cabinets to be driven from one source. If desired, the end user can combine a pair of the NX55P's using the mixer inputs on each cabinet and coupling the loop outputs. In this simple example you would have the ideal presentation system with two microphone inputs, two line inputs optimized for CD, cassette or laptop computer audio source, complete within two speaker cabinets. Many NX55P's can be linked together but a maximum of three "mixers" can be active at any one time. (Making three mic sources and six line sources available in any three or more cabinet array). The microphone input has equalization and high pass filtering appropriate for vocal applications. The trim control allows looped cabinets to be individually adjusted in level. This is valuable in applications where large numbers of cabinets are used such as clusters or in trade show applications. The NX55P has a selectable two position high-pass filter to limit extraneous low frequency rumble, or to crossover at the input so the loudspeaker can easily and effectively be used with subwoofers from a single full range source. Engaging the high pass filter also makes the NX55P a more efficient and effective vocal monitor. The NX55P is an ideal loudspeaker for mobile presentation PA where high volume and superior sound quality is required. Multiple loudspeakers can easily be linked using mixer inputs from each loudspeaker to create a six input system... no external mixer required. (Up to three "mixer" sources can be used in any one system.)

The NX200S is an ultra-compact powered subwoofer that features a single 10" speaker and a built in 200 watt power module. The precisely tuned band-pass enclosure of the NX200S provides rock-solid low frequency output previously available only from much larger cabinets. In fact, the unique combination of high-excursion woofers, electronic control and proprietary, series-loaded box design results in higher acoustic output than many single 18" enclosures which are 30-50% larger!
